1 The Qin Dynasty Qin king Ying Zheng- unified China/gave himself the name Shi Huangdi (first emperor) Legalist beliefs Ordered the burning of all books that did not agree with Legalism. To prove a point the emperor burned alive 460 scholars that opposed his view of the book burning. When he conquered a city, he had soldiers destroy its walls and take all the weapons.

3 A Unified China Emperor set up a uniform system of law.
He required everyone to write using the same set of symbols. A new money system. Gold and copper coins became the currency used in China.

4 Qin Achievements New roads were built. All the same width, 50 paces wide. Irrigation system Built the Great Wall in fear of the Nomads attacking China.

5 The Fall of Qin All Qin’s policies unified China but caused resentment. He died in 210 BC and had unified China. After his death China fell apart due to continuous fighting by rebel forces, each claiming that they had a mandate to become the next emperor.
