Presentation on theme: "WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH JESUS?"— Presentation transcript:

1 WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH JESUS?

2 I. WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH JESUS? CRUCIFY HIM

3 “Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified” (Matt. 27:22). Pilate, nor the people, understood that they were witnessing the greatest crime in human history. The most perfect person is humiliated, bruised, beaten, and hung on a cross.

4 Heb. 12:2, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

5 DID YOU KNOW THAT ONE CAN CRUCIFY JESUS OVER AND OVER AGAIN?
Heb. 6:6, “If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.”

6 II. WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH JESUS? BE COMPLAISANT

7 DEFINED “An instance of usually unaware or uninformed self- satisfaction.”

8 Without a doubt many who stand gazing at our Lord were uninformed and unaware of what truly was happening.

9 Luke 23:34, “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”

10 Acts 3:17, “And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.”
1 Cor. 2:8, “Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”

11 III. WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH JESUS? CORRUPT

12 One can bring shame to Christ by hypocrisy.
Many have taken the teachings of Jesus and corrupted them.

13 2 Cor. 2:17, “For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.” False teachers have placed fear in the hearts of others making them think that the Bible needs an ecclesiastical interpreter.

14 Rom. 10:14, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” A minister rightly divides the word of God and guides others to understanding the truth (2 Tim. 2:15).

15 IV. WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH JESUS? CONSTRICT

16 Constrict defined: “to stultify, stop, or cause to falter : INHIBIT!”
Three things inhibit the teachings of jesus.

17 Rev. 2:9, (Smyrna) “I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.” (1) Pretension

18 Rev. 3:9, (Philadelphia) “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.” (1) Pretension

19 (2) Perplexing Defined: “Filled with uncertainty, puzzled, and full of difficulty.” How many denominations make the Bible so difficult?

20 “All true believers endure to the end
“All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the State of grace, but shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, bring reproach on the cause of Christ, and temporal judgments on themselves, yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation” [V. God’s Power of Grace—from a statement adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention May 9, 1963].

21 (3) Political The Jews placed Jesus in the political arena of Roman politics. He was a scapegoat for the people, and a way to appease the masses by Herod and Pilate.

22 V. WHAT SHALL I DO WITH JESUS? CONFESS

23 Luke 12:8 , “Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God.” John 9:22, “  These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.”

24 John 12:42, “Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue.”

25 Rom. 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Rom. 14:11, “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

26 Rom. 15:9, “And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.” Php. 2:11, “And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
