Force Motion and Energy Life Science
Mr. Soria

Objectives Explain different situations where work is being done with different amounts of force. (force applied object moves) Differentiate situations where no work is being done. (Force applied object doesn’t move) Describe and explain the energy tranformation that takes place during digestion. Identify what geotropism, turgor pressure, emergence of seedlings

Vocabulary Work= is when force is applied to an object and the object moves (no motion no work) Force= a force is a push or pull on an object that can change the motion of the object. Structure= what it is Function= what it does Energy= the ability to do work

MRS. CENT or MR. SCENT

Types of Energy M R S C E N T Mechanical Radiant (light) Sonic (sound)
Chemical Electrical Nuclear Thermal

Flash Cards Make a Frayer Model style flash card for the different types of energy. Word, Definition, Student Definition, Picture, Sentence

Calculating Work Work= Force x Distance No distance no work

Turgor Pressure The outward push from inside a plant cell caused by water pressure. This gives plant cells structure.

Geotropism Geotropism is a plant’s response to gravity. Root system goes down Shoot system goes up.

Phototropism The way a plant positions it self based on where the best source of light is.
