*Check out the monthly School Calendar to keep up to date on events and due dates.
*Math HW Quizzes Please practice at home with your child & review problems missed nightly. Students should be correcting their answers & recording the steps for solving those they missed as we check in class.
*Common Assessments Sept. 26-Oct. 4
*TCAP scores in grades 3-5 will be calculated as 15% of a student’s second semester average in reading math, science, and social studies unless the BOE decides otherwise due to testing issues.
*Multiplication Quizzes If your child does not have his/her multiplication facts memorized, please work on them at home. It is imperative to their success in math this year. A Multiplication Quiz will now be given every Monday.
Spelling / Vocabulary Words
dictate – (v) to speak or read something to a person who writes it down; to decree
contradict – (v) to say the opposite of something that someone else has said; to deny the truth
edict – (n) an official order given by a person with power or by a government
autobiography – (n) a person's life story written by that person
telegram – (n) a message sent by telegraph and then delivered in written or printed form; sometimes referred to as wire or cable
calligraphy – (n) the art of making beautiful handwriting
graphic – (adj) shown or described in a very clear way, used especially to refer to things that are unpleasant or shocking
inscription – (n) words that are written on or cut into a surface
transcript – (n) a written, printed, or typed copy of words that have been spoken
prescription – (n) a written message from a doctor that officially tells a patient what medicine to take
