2 What is a committee? Your society is run for students, by students
Committee members must be voted in The committee are responsible for the club Decisions for the club are made by the committee What is a committee?

3 President Leader and main spokesperson
Responsible for the club, committee and club affairs Liaising with the SU and members Ensuring fair and democratic elections

4 Vice President Support the president Acting president in absence
Responsible for health and safety Running events such as ‘taster’ sessions Development of the club

5 Comms Officer Responsible for the administration of the club
Ensures smooth running of events Manages communication channels e.g. Instagram, Facebook Comms Officer

6 Ensures members are well behaved on socials – you have to be sensible
Plan and run socials, including ‘sober socials’ Make sure members bond – a social club, is a happy club Social Secretary

7 Charity Officer Organises the fundraising events in the club
Responsible for raising money for charity and for your club Help plan events and work closely with the social secs to carry out successful events Charity Officer

8 Committee Meetings Each month you should meet, face to face, with your committee Put together an agenda of what will be discussed and raise any issues in advance Be clear and transparent with your members Don’t have meetings in pubs/bars, have them in a quiet space so you can concentrate Be professional, group chats aren’t the answer!

9 Communication Make sure to tell your members the right information
Read s and take time to respond Don’t rush a reply, information can get lost Get everything in writing!

What is your Unique Selling Point (USP). Why choose your club? Who is on the stand? Who do you want to attract? How are you acting at your stand? Are you friendly and inclusive? Are your handouts professional, eye catching and with key information? Make sure you can all answer questions! Societies Fair – top tips!

12 Taster Sessions Keep everyone busy
Split existing members up to meet new members Don’t leave students out. Make them feel included Taster Sessions Have a cup of tea together after the session Plan different sessions for different numbers of people Make sure to contact new members afters the session HAVE FUN!
