Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 September 2019 APAC update – September 2019 Author: Edward Au (Huawei) John Doe, Some Company

2 September 2019 Background This slide deck provides a high-level overview of the activities in APAC (related to Wi-Fi and WPAN) between July and September 2019. Edward Au (Huawei)

3 Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 September 2019 APT (1) The APG19-5 meeting was held in Tokyo, Japan, from July 31 to August 6, 2019 Preliminary APT common proposals with consensus approach were developed For details on selected agenda items that are of interest to us, please refer to 19/0128r0. Edward Au (Huawei) John Doe, Some Company

4 Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 September 2019 Australia ACMA (1) Consultation on Proposed area-wide apparatus licence Closed on August 9, 2019 To develop a new transmitter and receiver licence type, referred to as the area-wide apparatus licence (AWL) type. This new licence type is intended to benefit spectrum users by complementing existing licensing options and improving apparatus licensing flexibility, particularly by providing a scalable licensing option to support area-wide multi-device deployments.  apparatus-licence Edward Au (Huawei) John Doe, Some Company

5 Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 September 2019 Australia ACMA (2) Consultation on Spectrum Sharing: Overview and New Approaches Submission deadline: September 27, 2019 To provide an overview of spectrum sharing concepts as they currently exist and outline new approaches to spectrum sharing arrangements, including examples of sharing arrangements being either introduced or considered internationally. This is intended to provide a common information base against which new proposals for spectrum sharing can be considered. spectrum-sharing-1 Edward Au (Huawei) John Doe, Some Company

6 Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 September 2019 India TRAI Consultation on Allotment of spectrum to Indian Railways for Public Safety and Security services Closed on July 22, 2019 Open House Discussion conducted on August 26, 2019 Indian Railways has requested DoT to reserve 15 MHz of spectrum in 700 MHz band for the purpose and to begin with 10 MHz to be allocated free of cost as the proposal is devoid of any commercial gain, but only for enhancing security and passenger amenities. DoT has also requested TRAI to provide recommendations on administrative allotment of spectrum to Indian Railways and the quantum, price, appropriate frequency band (including MHz band) and any other related issue. indian-railways-public-safety-and-security-services Edward Au (Huawei) John Doe, Some Company

7 Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 September 2019 Japan MIC (1) Consultation on the report related to the technical conditions for advanced radio equipment that uses radio waves in the 60 GHz band and necessary for sophistication of low-power wireless systems Submission deadline: September 30, 2019 news/01kiban14_ html Edward Au (Huawei) John Doe, Some Company

8 Japan MIC (2) Motivation
Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 September 2019 Japan MIC (2) Motivation With the introduction of IEEE802.11ad / WiGig in 2013, antenna power has been increased. In recent years, broadband millimeter-wave radar, mobile terminals and televisions, motion sensors, and biological information sensors have been developed. The components of communication systems have changed significantly since 2013. IEEE ay, which can be considered as not only communications devices, but also radar, is expected to finish soon. In view of the status of the system, it is necessary to review the new usage needs and the technical requirements. Edward Au (Huawei) John Doe, Some Company

9 Japan MIC (3) New usage models
Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 September 2019 Japan MIC (3) New usage models Smart home appliances, including the use of (high resolution) radar senor for, e.g., gesture sensing. Personal health check and monitoring system through biometric information acquisition that can be introduced to nursing and childcare facilities, e.g., recognize slight movements of the human surface due to heartbeat and breathing from a distance acquire biological information of multiple persons at the same time by using a radar sensor Edward Au (Huawei) John Doe, Some Company

10 Japan MIC (4) New usage models (cont’d) Personal authentication
Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 September 2019 Japan MIC (4) New usage models (cont’d) Personal authentication 60 GHz radar-based face recognition enables not only face detection but also biometric recognition In-vehicle sensing High resolution radar enables detection of sitting position and biological information Edward Au (Huawei) John Doe, Some Company
