Our Purpose
The purpose of the Air Force Association Doolittle Leadership Center is to provide opportunities for AFA members, including mid-career military, government, and industry professionals to study, develop leadership skills, and collaborate in the national security arena. The Doolittle Leadership Center activity will be structured to: 1) Promote the national security interests of the United States and its allies; 2) Promote the values of freedom and democracy; 3) Instill and reinforce the values of character, integrity, service, and trust; 4) Explore contemporary geopolitical and national security challenges, and identify policies and mechanisms to collaboratively address those challenges 5) Solve hard problems, together

The Center gives AFA an opportunity to:
Demonstrate that established Air Force Association programs provide relevant tools for military, government, industry, and AFA volunteer leaders to address critical air, space and cyber challenges facing our Nation
Revitalize, enhance, and grow the Association by:
Providing AFA Chapters with real-time, information-age networking and connectivity
Exposing AFA membership to current aerospace and defense challenges
Communicating unambiguously that AFA is connected, relevant, and that membership has value
Build an unmistakable high-profile linkage between the Association, its leaders, and our membership with national security policy makers and key leaders from government, the military, and industry

A Washington, DC-area based networked leadership development facility open to mid-career leaders in the national security arena including the military services, defense and national agencies, Congressional staff, defense and related industries, media, U.S. allies and partners, and to the civilian defense policy community
Connectivity to Air University, AWFC, USAFA, AFROTC, AA/SW units, universities, NCO Academy, and AFA Chapters across the nation to expand leadership development opportunities through a networked structure allowing interactive engagements, scenarios, gaming and instruction
A secure area to support classified on-site sessions
Collaborative Problem Solving with Substantive Aerospace Power and National Security Relevance

9. The Doolittle Leadership Center
How?
The estimated dates for the DLC IOC (Jun 2021) and FOC (Jan 2023) are contingent on raising the funds necessary for the DLC facility modifications, connectivity with participating entities, and DLC equipment
Estimated total funding required is $10M. Initial plans are to raise $1M by the end of CY 2020 on a three-year path (Jan 2023) to generate $10M from potential participants, sponsors, and partners
Curriculum development will be initiated upon acquisition of dedicated DLC staff with initial reliance on use of Mitchell Institute and CyberPatriot staff
Initial curriculum will rely on integrating capabilities provided by the Air Force Association's Mitchell Institute, CyberPatriot, and StellarXplorer programs
Information technology upgrades, modernized operating spaces, and upgraded conference rooms are in planning stages as of May 2019
Leadership Development Opportunities Start in 2019 with Curriculum Expansion and Facility Upgrades Based on Revenue Growth
