9 Reading Expectations Your child will develop their reading skills during Guided Reading sessions every morning. We want children to enjoy reading and share books with you at home. We will be having a reading challenge this year so watch this space! Please read with your child every day, talking about what you have read and then complete and sign the reading records.

10 Homework At Forty Hill we believe that children should be children and so we do not place a major emphasis on homework. However, we do understand that parents like children to continue their learning at home and so we offer the ‘Homework Grid’. Homework from the grid will be acknowledged marked by the teaching team. This year, we have also published spelling lists on the class page of the website. These state the week that the spellings will be tested during. In year 6, children will also receive maths homework most weeks. There is additional maths homework that can be found on the class page of the website. Please do not complete old SATS tests at home as these are use for assessment purposes in school and can hinder progress if results are inaccurate due to already completing the test.
