Unit 2 Test Review: Work with a partner to complete your study guide. *If you have not scored a 100% on the lit terms quiz, you will retake it at this time.* Interviewing Techniques: In this part of the unit we will discuss the ins and outs of interviewing, and you will conduct an interview yourself. In order to prepare for this, we will analyze sample interviews. As we watch the interviews, take note of the good, bad, and ugly parts of each interview.

Unit 2A Test – Turn off your phones and place them in your bookbags. Put your bookbags in the front of the room. Put your name, date, block, and subject (Unit 2A test) on the blue side of your scantron. Interviewing Techniques (continued from yesterday): In this part of the unit we will discuss the ins and outs of interviewing, and you will conduct an interview yourself. In order to prepare for this, we will analyze sample interviews. As we watch the interviews, take note of the good, bad, and ugly parts of each interview. Interview #1: Interview #2: Interview #3: Interview Planning: In your Springboard text, read the Chuck Liddell Interview transcript (1.10). After reading that interview, start planning an interview asking about life after high school. You will conduct an interview with a family member (or someone else you know) discussing his/her experiences in college or the workforce Learning Targets: W2 I can… understand and use various organizational structures. W4 I can… identify and understand the writing task. HOMEWORK: COMPLETE PAGE BY PLANNING OUT YOUR INTERVIEW. BRING THIS TO CLASS WITH YOU TOMORROW.

TED Talk Thursday: As you watch the Interviewing TED Talk, complete your TED Talk graphic organizer. Learning How to Interview: Now it’s time to practice interviewing with a partner. Turn to page 30 (1.6 in Springboard) and complete the interview brainstorming questions. Once you have completed the brainstorming, you will interview your classmate and complete the chart on page 31 during your discussion. Independent reading – Take out your independent reading book and read quietly and independently. Learning Target: W2 I can… understand and use various organizational structures.

FRIDAY 9/6/2019 Education Still Pays - Read the “Education Still Pays” article on page 66. Once you have finished reading, answer questions 1 & 2 independently. CEI Intro – We will begin discussing the requirements for CEI writing. Follow along on your handout as Dr. George goes through the CEI PPT. Education Claim - Now that you understand the purpose of a claim and its requirements, write a claim in response to the following question (based on the information provided in the “Education Still Pays” article): IS A COLLEGE EDUCATION WORTH THE TIME AND EFFORT? Be prepared to share! Independent reading – Take out your independent reading book and read quietly and independently. Learning Targets: W1 I can… introduce a precise claim.
