2 Play Play is an important and necessary part of development.
Play influences: Physical, Intellectual, Social and Emotional development.

3 Physical Development Helps to develop fine movements skills.
E.g. Children need to build upper body strength by hanging or swinging

4 Intellectual Development
Both verbal and visual stimulation is provided by play. Play encourages mental awareness

5 Social and Emotional Development
Play encourages ‘friends’ – social relationships between children. This then forms the basis of socialization into adult society.

Parallel Play The child is playing alongside others – but still concentrating on themselves. They will defend their own toys
