5 Endocrine System Made of glands that release chemicals (hormones) directly into the bloodstream These chemicals control body activities and regulate growth and development © Getting Nerdy, LLC

6 Glands of the Endocrine System
Pituitary: “master” gland, controls other endocrine glands and controls growth, water balance, and blood pressure Adrenal: produces adrenaline, a chemical that controls “flight or fight” response Pancreas: produces insulin which regulates blood sugar Thyroid: regulates metabolism (getting energy from food) Ovaries & Testes: release sex hormones which regulate puberty and development © Getting Nerdy, LLC
