1 1 Timothy 1:18-20 Strength for the Fight

2 What is worth fighting for?

3 What is worth fighting for
What is worth fighting for? We must know when our faith is worth fighting for and who we are fighting against.

4 1 Timothy 1 18 This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, [19] keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.

5 How to Shipwreck Your Faith
1. Believe something false about the gospel 2. Behave hypocritically as a Christian 3. Doubt God’s presence and His promises 4. Allow your sin to blind you from the truth 5. Remove yourself from the fellowship of the local church

6 How to Fight the Good Fight of Faith
1. Know God’s Word 2. Let what is true inform your conscience: thoughts, feelings, and behaviors 3. Discipline yourself to promote godliness 4. Maintain close fellowship with your church 5. Understand the nature of spiritual warfare

7 How to Fight the Good Fight of Faith
“I consider myself convicted by the testimony of Holy Scripture, which is my basis; my conscience is captive to the Word of God. Thus I cannot and will not recant, because acting against one's conscience is neither safe nor sound. God help me. Amen.” Martin Luther

8 1 Timothy 1 20 Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme.

9 What is worth fighting for
