(A) Although the E/A ratio remains < 1, (B) elevation of filling pressure is evidenced by a high pulmonary venous A reversal velocity (44 cm/s), and (C) increased E/Ea ratio ( =  15). In this case the transmitral A wave is not shortened, probably because the E velocity is elevated at the start of atrial contraction.17
