2 How language changed in The Middle Ages
At the beginning of The Middle Ages, Old English a language that had Germanic grammar and vocab. Basically having parts of the German language incorporated. There was also the incorporation of French language.

4 This time period is important because…
“Black Death” The bubonic plague killed over 20 million people in Europe There was multiple art and architecture break-throughs. Mainly gothic structures in this time period and multiple dark, depressing paintings and drawings were introduced. Rural life was governed by a system called feudalism. European thinkers, writers and artists began to look back and celebrate the art and culture of ancient Greece and Rome. They say that this time period was known for the fall of Rome.

5 Society in The Middle Ages
Society of The Middle Ages continued to suffer barbarian invasions as they occupied the remains of Roman Empire to start their own kingdoms. The rise of Islamic Empire and the spread of Christianity was an important role in society The society was facing great religious movements during The Middle Ages, politically, the society was gradually converting to feudalism. The upper class was divided in two segments as the monastic monks and the aristocrats or nobles. The peasants or serfs were those who used to do work or to produce wealth. Middle Ages society was significantly influenced by the noble class, as the nobility had a significant say in all aspects of medieval politics, culture, religion and economics.

6 Language Changes in The Middle Ages and the effect on literature
The literature of this time was made up of religious writings as well as non religious (secular) works. In modern literature, it is a complex and rich field of study, from the sacred to the abundant non-sacred(profane), touching all points in between. Works of literature are often grouped by place of origin, language, and genre.

7 Language changes in modern time
Generation by generation, pronunciations have changes, new words are borrowed or invented, the meaning of old words have become either negative or more positive in meaning. The difference in todays language and the language in The Middle Ages is that the language back then was more proper, they used a language based on Medieval Latin. Today we use more slang and vulgar words.
