1 Secondary School Transfer Meeting
St JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL TUESDAY 11th EPTEMBER 2018.

2 Visit, visit, visit We have prepared a list of open days/evenings for you Compare and contrast – you have a good idea of what you do and don’t want What’s good for the eldest child is not necessarily good for the younger child Look at their statistics and what is suitable for your child Beware of school gate gossip

3 Pan London eAdmissions System
You must complete the Common Application Form (CAF) for the Borough you live in Login or create a new account at Choose 6 schools – if you only write down 3 and don’t get an offer on any, the borough will choose the school for you.

4 Pan London eAdmissions System
List them in preferential order – NOT alphabetical order, for example:- 1 – The Catholic school you WANT 2- The Catholic school you would be happy with 3 – 6 – Four other schools that you would be happy with

5 Pan London eAdmissions System
Submit the form on-line by 21st October 2018 and keep the reference number Closing date for applications 31st October 2018 Single offer date – 1st March 2019 Single Offer – you will only get an offer from one school ‘Best possible’ – you will be ranked using the school admission criteria There is no way of cheating the system

6 Applying for a Catholic School
All of the above, plus Complete the school Supplementary Information Form (SIF) – Governors rank you using this form and their school criteria Get a Catholic Certificate of Practice from a priest Take to the school and ask for a receipt

7 Top Tips You must rank the schools in order of your preference
Schools DO NOT know where you ranked them It’s not your child’s choice, you are the parent Keep to the deadlines Make an appointment to see the priest, get all forms signed at the one time Search for your evidence now – e.g. Council Tax Letter, Baptism Certificates – see Ealing acceptable guidance Be honest Be realistic

8 What if I am stuck! Make an appointment and come in and see me
Do something – late applicants have little hope Don’t try to play the system, your child deserves better Do reflect and pray

9 You don’t get the offer you wanted
Accept what you are offered See me Go on the waiting list, this may not be automatic, ring the school and asked to be placed on it Consider an appeal Don’t talk down the school you are offered

10 The good news!! St Joseph’s has prepared your children well for this transition There is a tough regime in Year 5 and Year 6 with regards to homework, uniform, manners and discipline The result is that children settle really well at High School
