2. Do Now: Page 389 #1A, 2A, and 3A
#1A – The first industry to begin using machines to manufacture goods was the textile industry. #2A – Most mills were located in the Northeast, especially New England (the first mill was in Rhode Island) because it had a lot of rivers and streams to provide a reliable water supply for the water frames that power the factories. 3A – The War of 1812 encouraged American manufacturing to grow. The war led to embargos that decreased the importation of goods. We had to create the goods that we needed instead of getting them from other countries.
