1 Creating Grade Columns in Blackboard

2 Automatically created grade columns
When you create gradable items in your course, grade columns are created automatically in the Grade Center. You can edit a grade column to rename it, associate it with a different category, and associate it with a rubric and grading period. You can also determine if students will see the results in My Grades, and include or exclude the column in calculations. In this example, the CHAPTER 12 APPLICATION grade column is created automatically once the assignment has been created.

3 Manually created grade columns
You can create grade columns for activities that take place outside of your Blackboard course, such as in-class quizzes, an assignment from a third party product, or an extra credit. For manually created columns, no submissions exist. You simply assign the grades for this type to the grade columns directly. To create a manual grade column : In the Grade Center, select Create Column. On the Create Grade Column page, type in the name, select “Score” for Primary Display, and assign Points Possible. Optionally set a due date. You may choose whether to include the column in the Grade Center calculations. Select Submit.

To create a Final Course Grade column: In the Grade Center, select Create Column. On the Create Grade Column page, type in the name, select “Text” for Primary Display, and assign Points Possible of 0. You may choose whether to show this column to students. Select Submit.
