What is the purpose of Transitional Healthcare?
It is a TRICARE-like benefit that is offered to eligible Service members and their families for a limited time in which the Service member and their family may enroll in other medical insurance programs

Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) Ensure eligible family members that you want to have covered under TRICARE are added

Released from Active Duty
Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP) is 180 days of premium-free health care benefits for TSM and eligible family Involuntarily separated with a certain SPD code Involuntarily retained on Active duty to support Contingency Ops Voluntarily agree to stay active in support of Contingency Ops. Member receives a sole survivorship discharge Affiliate with the Selected Reserves immediately after last day Reservists that supported a Contingency Operation for 30 days

Separated from Active Duty
While on terminal leave you and your family are still covered by your current TRICARE program Continued Health Care Benefit Program (CHCBP) is a premium- based plan 18-36 months of temporary coverage Acts as a bridge between health plans Purchase within 60 days of loss of TRICARE eligibility

Retired from duty Retiree from active duty or Retired Reserve member turning age and submitted retirement application to Reserve Component Eligibility change starts the day you retire Submit request to enroll in qualifying plan up to 90 days prior to your retirement date Certain family members remain eligible for TRICARE benefits when you retire

Retiree Options TRICARE Prime – annual enrollment fee. Little to no co-payment Group A: $297 per individual / $594 per family Group B: $360 per individual / $720 per family TRICARE Select – fancy or flexible TRICARE. Annual enrollment fees, higher copays or cost share than Prime Group A: No yearly enrollment fee Group B: $462per individual / $924 per family TRICARE Young Adult (TYA) – Prime or Select option for your adult children Between the age of 21 (23 if enrolled in college) but not yet 26 Unmarried Not eligible to enroll in employer health plan
