Quality Assurance Quality assurance systems are the planned activities used by a manufacturer to monitor the quality of a product from its design and development, through to its manufacture and end use. This will also include customer satisfaction. Quality assurance is an entire process designed to ensure that the product fulfils all of its requirements and is fit for purpose. Quality Assurance is a company’s guarantee that its products meet the accepted quality standards. The checking procedures take place ‘before, during and after’ production. The aim is to get the product ‘right first time’.

Quality Assurance

Quality Control Quality control is the part of quality assurance that involves inspection and testing of a product during or immediately after production. Quality Control is used in all areas of production. It is a technique used to check quality against a specification. E.g. it may be used to check the dimensions of a product or component. Quality control requires constant inspection and testing throughout the manufacturing process in order to detect products which are not up to the required standard.

Total Quality Management (TQM)

Production Scheduling and Production Logistics
To manufacture a product it is important that all resources and the sequencing of tasks are allocated in the correct way to ensure efficient production. Computer based scheduling and logistics in production help make the process smooth and easy. Small issues should be fixed by the computer. Producing a production schedule will determine if a delivery promise can be met. It aims to maximise the potential of the workforce.
