1 March 22 – Making a Prediction
Agenda: Quick-Write Creative Writing: What will happen next? Reading time Homework: Read Chapter 5 Chapter 5 reading questions Take out: The Great Gatsby Notebook Pen/Pencil Goals: Make predictions based on context clues and knowledge of characters and setting

2 Quick-Write Based on what you have read so far (Chapters 1-4) what do you think is going to happen in the remainder of the story? Explain your reasoning If you already know the ending, keep it to yourself… don’t spoil it

3 Making Predictions Imagine that you just found a copy of this book, and after reading through chapter 4 - rather than finding chapter 5 - you find a bunch of blank pages with a note that says: Hey there, I forgot what I was going to write about after this. Please finish it up for me. Thanks, -F. Scott Fitzgerald Your task, with your table partner, is to create an outline for the rest of the book You should use the context, characters and settings from the first four chapters Remember that a plot needs to have rising action, a climax and a resolution, don’t just say “they all die… the end” Remember to include all of the main characters that we’ve met so far – don’t leave anyone out!
