3 What is the Engineering Academy?
Successful programme offering alternative route into university and employment as a Strathclyde student Working in partnership with colleges Supported by industry: Scholarships and paid summer placements Around 100 student places available each year Year 1 – enhanced HNC + practical skills units Year 2 – entry to second year* of one of our degree programmes offered by 7 of our engineering departments (*entry to first year for Biomedical Engineering)

4 The Partnership We try to allocate the college nearest the student by public transport

5

6 Progression from Year 1 to Year 2
How do students progress to 2nd year? Complete and pass all of the units of the HNC+ curriculum and obtain an A in the Graded Unit Attend and complete Engineering Skills (double SQA unit) Attend and complete all activities delivered at the University during year 1 Students have the option leave with an HNC if they do not progress to the Engineering Academy

7 HNC routes * No Pathway to Architecture HNC Programme
Offered at the following College(s) Allows progression to Year 2* of the following UoS degree(s) HNC General Engineering City of Glasgow College (Riverside Campus) Ayrshire College (Kilmarnock Campus) West College Scotland (Paisley Campus) Glasgow Kelvin College (Springburn Campus) New College Lanarkshire (Motherwell Campus) BEng Hons Biomedical Engineering (progress to Year 1) BEng Hons Civil Engineering BEng Hons Civil & Environmental Engineering BEng Hons Product Design Engineering BEng Hons Sports Engineering BEng Hons Production Engineering Management BSc Hons Product Design and Innovation BEng Mechanical Engineering BEng Hons Naval Architecture with Ocean Engineering BEng Hons Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering BEng Hons Naval Architecture with High Performance Marine Vehicles HNC Electronics Glasgow Clyde College (Cardonald Campus) BEng Hons Electronic and Electrical Engineering HNC Chemical Process Technology Forth Valley College Falkirk BEng Hons Chemical Engineering * No Pathway to Architecture
