Presentation on theme: "Random Acts of Kindness"— Presentation transcript:

1 Random Acts of Kindness
Students caught doing “good” things

2 Idea We would like to acknowledge and reward students that do random acts of kindness within the school This is mainly outside of lessons Any member of staff can identify students (not just teachers) It would be on a half termly basis, with prizes awarded at the end of every half term There would be larger prizes at the end of the year

3 What are random acts of kindness
They are actions which students do outside of lessons and are not asked to do Some examples are: Holding open doors for others Picking up litter which is not theirs Helping other students/staff/parents/visitors Looking after other students which are in need of support/help Etc These do not replace the normal house point system and rewards/certificates (for lesson work and house participation), this is in addition to that

4 How does it work? All staff in the school will have access to small (credit card size) reward cards (RAK cards) that look like this: The cards can be stored in departments, house centre, reception, staff room, etc.

5 How does it work? When a staff member sees a student doing a random act of kindness they can choose to issue them a RAK card The staff member will fill out the required details on the RAK card for the student and hand them the card It is then down to the student to post the RAK card into the correct house RAK box in the house centre At the end of every half term the house RAK box will be taken to the last house assembly of the half term RAK cards will be drawn from the box and different prizes awarded

6 What are the ideas for prizes each half term per house
Possible ideas of prizes and quantities, per half term, per house assembly: 2 x £10 Amazon voucher 4 x “Jump to the front of the canteen” week pass 2 x Non-uniform day for the student 2 x Free breakfast for student and a friend in the canteen 2 x Chocolate/sweet prize 2 x Free lunch for student and a friend in the canteen 1 x Special seasonal prize 1 x A positive phone call home from Mr Jackman 1 x A free book of the students choice from the Library We might also be able to get free vouchers from companies that donate (McDonalds, Cinema, Dominoes, etc)

7 End of year award All RAK cards from every half term are entered into a end of year draw for each house There will be one card picked from each house at the end of the year to get the large prize of: 1 x £25 Amazon Voucher Possible other ideas of prize (budget depending)

8 So… The more Random Acts of Kindness that students do, the more RAK cards they have in the house RAK box, and the greater chance they have of getting a prize! We are aiming to begin this after the Summer half term to pilot the idea
