2 What is a Depressant? Depressant is a drug that lowers neurotransmission levels which is to depress or reduce arousal or stimulation, in various areas of brain. Three consequences of the drug: Slurred speech Poor concentration Problems with movement and memory

3 What are some examples of a Depressant?
Some examples of Street Names for a depressant would be : Xanax Valium Sleeping pills Street names refer to the color of the pills or the capsules. Examples would include … Blue Bullets , Blue Birds or Red Bullets Another Common Source for street names of a drug is the effect it has on the user Klonopin Downers Candy An Example would be Barbiturates & Benzodiazepines which act to depress the central nervous system Two Consequences for these depressants would be : Xanax causes Drowsiness, Slurred Speech , Changes in Sex Drive Klonopin cause Overdose , Muscle weakness and Episodic memory loss

4 What are the effects of depressant on the body?
Short-term effects: Difficulty or inability to urinate Slow brain function Slowed pulse and breathing Lowered blood pressure Sluggishness Long-term effects: Produces chronic fatigue Breathing difficulties Sexual and sleep problems Increases anxiety and panic High body temperature Convulsions

5 Legal and Social Issues Surrounding the Depressant
The main task for Depressants is that it acts as a tranquilizer. A legal issue regarding the drug is that it has the same consequences as any other type of drug addiction. If you are under the age of 18, which is about an average age of these drug uses, you are faced with the consequences that continue well into your adult years and be stripped away from certain opportunities. A social issue that comes with the depressant is that, legally, it is used for inducing sleep, relieve stress and to subdue anxiety, but as an issue, people will believe that it works effectively and should be used all the time. So it becomes addictive.

6 Are depressants addictive?
Depending on what depresent is taken some can be more addictive than others this is sometimes unintentional because we are slowly using the depressant more and more and the body can no longer function without it. People addicted to depressants can have both long term and short term effects Short term: Long term: Dilated pupils Coma Impair a person's judgment Overdose Memory problem Dependence Dizziness death Slurred speech Damages to the heart, liver, or brain

7 Route of Administration
Depending on the drug you take and how it affects your body there’s only a few ways: You have Barbiturates, Methaqualone, and Benzodiazepines each of these drugs are stated to be orally but in the Benzodiazepines, Rohypnol can be also snorted and injected too.

Question still remain was it Quaalude or Benadryl? Experts suggest stronger drug, more likely Rohypnol.
