10 Enhancement Grant FY-2013 Workstations*-- For the purpose of the Enhancement Grant, a workstation is defined as a piece of furniture specifically designed to accommodate a work area authentic to a specific business/industry work environment.  An example would be a recessed workstation designed specifically for a computer, similar to what would be found in an office environment.  It is not a regular student/teacher desk and chair.    

11 Enhancement Grant FY-2013 Instructor training**-- Up to 25% of requested grant funds can be used for instructor certification in a specific career occupational field. A detailed request for instructor certification funds must be included within the grant’s Statement of Need. Information provided within the Statement of Need will determine if the request is granted. Instructor training will be reimbursed at 50% (no minimum unit cost). For example, a school requesting $10,000 in equipment, could request a maximum of $2,500 for instructor certification.

New GED® Test in 2014 New Computer Based Test (CBT) available January 2014 (Not online test) CBT of Current “2002” test 1-3 Missouri Pilot Sites this year Cost Projected at $ total Current Paper Pencil Test Available until December 31, 2013 at current cost: $40.00 2014 the GED Testing Service will implement a new GED test to assess high school equivalency and college and career readiness. The new test will be aligned to the common core standards The test current version of the test known as the 2002 version will be piloted in a computer based version in 1-3 sites in the state. Cost for those who want to test same day and receive results in 4 of the 5 test areas (writing scored separately) immediately after testing will be $ including all fees. We intend to make the paper pencil version available at the same time up until December 31, 2013 at the present cost of $ When the test changed in 2002 we had a 25% increase in testing in version test scores will not transfer to the new test. Available to currently funded AEL programs Purpose: Civics instruction for ESL adult students U.S. History and Government The Naturalization Process Civic Engagement Goal: active, productive community members Limit of award: $60, Grants to be Funded Applications due: March 30 More information: Becci Taylor, AEL Supervisor Phone: Rebecca. Talking Points: Available to currently funded AEL (Adult Education and Literacy) programs clarification: If you aren’t operating an AEL program currently, your are not eligible to apply for the grant Purpose: needs-based civics instruction for ESL (English as a Second Language) adult students civics instruction includes U.S. history and government the naturalization process (what it takes for immigrants to officially become U.S. citizens) civic engagement for non-English speakers needing to navigate and negotiate community institutions i.e. medical community, their children’s schools, banking, housing Goal: students will become active and contributing community members Limit of award: $60,000 Due: March 30 More information: AEL Section---Becci Taylor
