4 Teams There are two teams in 6th grade – a team consists of four teachers, one from each core subject: *Language Arts *Math *Science *Social Studies Students on the same team share these four teachers, which allows teachers to plan activities, homework/testing schedules, etc. for their students.

5 Required Classes Language Arts Math Science Social Studies PE/Health Literacy 6 You will NOT have to enroll in these classes – this will be done for you!

6 What does the day look like?
Frontier Trail Middle School opens at 7:30am Students are welcome to enter the building at that time and have breakfast, talk with friends in the commons, or hang out in the Library. 1st hour: 7:50-8:40 2nd hour: 8:45-9:35 3rd hour: 9:40-10:30 4th hour: 10:35-11:50 5th hour: 11:55-12:45 6th hour: 12:50-1:40 7th hour: 1:45-2:35 Jag Time: 2:40-3:10 Jag Time: homework, clubs, Second Step, assemblies, team activities, WEB activities, etc.

You need to enroll in a total of 7.0 credits:  Required courses = 5.5 credits  Elective courses = 1.5 credits Option 1: Full year class (Band) = 1.0 credit Semester class (Choir) = 0.5 credit Option 3: Semester class (Choir) = 0.5 credit 4 quarter classes = 1.0 credit Option 2: Full year class (Choir) = 1.0 credit 2 quarter classes = 0.5 credit Option 4: 6 quarter classes = 1.5 credits

23 Homework 6th graders need to plan for 60 minutes of homework each night Teachers are available most days before and/or after school to assist students, and during Jag Time Jag Time is an important time to start homework

24 Athletics 6th Grade students can participate in Cross Country in the fall and Track in the spring.

25 Enrollment Complete the blue enrollment form, have a parent sign the form, and return to your teacher by: ◊ Black Bob – Friday, January 25 ◊ Briarwood – Thursday, January 24 ◊ Brougham – Friday, January 25 ◊ Green Springs – Friday, January 25 (through StudentVue) ◊ Tomahawk – Thursday, January 24
