4 Why?

5 2018: from story-gathering to Citizens’ Jury
Story gathering stories from across the population Citizens’ Jury - an in-depth examination of a key question to arise from the stories

6 How we’re doing this… Organisations - to recruit and support Listeners
Listeners - to collect people’s stories People - to tell their stories Story gathering Organisations - to recruit and support Listeners Listeners - collect stories from people and support them to use the self-interpretation tools Individuals - provide and interpret their own story Citizens’ Jury Jurors - recruitment details will be promoted through our website and mailing list

7 A tool for collecting stories
Enables self-interpretation of a story Creates quantitative data, backed up by narrative - produces stats as well as stories Removes the need for people to say if something was ‘good’ or ‘bad’, and why that was the case, or what could have been changed People can record their own story or someone else can collect it from them

8 Finding the survey… New button on our webpage – www.mtm.wales
Save the survey link to your favourites Poster with QR code and shorted URL Use the paper version and upload later

9 Reflecting on the support I received, I...
Got what I felt I needed Was listened to Had a choice

10 Analysis Positivity of story vs usefulness of info provided
Service vs capacity to discuss needs with staff Staff acting on discussions vs likelihood of others having a similar experience Filter first by: Service Location Any of the monitoring data Key words eg health

11 Questions you might be asked…
What will you do with my data? Will this change anything? I’ve told loads of people my story loads of times, nothing’s ever happened or changes because of it… What’s the point of your project? My social worker got a story from me last week, can’t you just get her to send it over? I’ve got loads of stories that I collected for a project at my lunch club – they’re anonymous, so I’ll just those to you, shall I?

12 What’s a good story? What do you want to hear?
Anything!! Good, bad, boring, something that happened yesterday Experiences not journeys Split longer stories into shorter blocks What if someone thinks they don’t have a story?
