2. What is a Lockdown?
When there is the possibility of an active shooter, armed intruder, civil unrest, terrorism, or law enforcement action on campus, Lathrop will follow LOCKDOWN procedures. This means that everyone must find shelter in a locked room and keep as quiet as possible until the danger has passed.

3. Why Have a Lockdown Drill?
It is important to practice what to do before a dangerous situation occurs so that everyone is ready in case of an actual lockdown event.

4. During the Drill
When you hear an announcement signaling the beginning of the drill, do the following:
Get inside. Your teacher will lock the doors and windows, and turn off the lights.
Go to the nearest classroom, even if it isn’t your classroom. If you are in the restroom, go to the nearest classroom.

5. During the Drill
If it’s passing period or lunch, go to the nearest classroom in a lockdown.
If you are in class already, stay in the classroom.

6. During the Drill
Get down. Stay away from windows. Stay low and out of sight. Turn cell phones to SILENT and keep quiet.

7. During the Drill
Stay inside. Do not unlock doors or leave until you hear an announcement signaling the end of the drill. Even if someone knocks or claims to be the police, do not open the door until the all- clear has been called.
