3 What are STAR Events? Students Taking Action With Recognition.
Competitive events in which members are recognized for their achievement in team and individual projects. There are many different STAR Events including Interpersonal Communication, Career Investigation, Advocacy, and many more! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oklahoma STAR Events that only advance to the state level. Cake Decorating, Children’s Literature, Creed Speaking, Culinary Grill, New Member Facts, Work Ready Child Care Teachers Aid, Work Ready Job Interview, and Work Ready Table Setting. What are STAR Events?

District Regionals State Nationals You are required to score an 80 or above and place first or second to pass on to the next level of competition. This is Oklahoma’s rule. Different Levels and How to Advance

6 How to be successful in STAR events!
Rubric Appearance Time Study

7 Rubric The rubric gives information for what you need to include in your project, the time limit for your presentation, the portfolio page limit, the board dimensions, the materials you need, and what the judges will be looking for in your presentation.

9 If you want to succeed in STAR Events, you need to put time into the STAR Event! It takes time to make sure a STAR Event fits all the requirements and guidelines. If you put time in your STAR Event, you will begin to see the benefits. Time

10 The judges want to see that you are well prepared for your project and know the material you are presenting. Find a friend that will help you study, look over your project, and give you feedback or, have a practice night with your local chapter. Study

11 Interview Tips and Tricks
Make eye contact Give yourself time to answer their questions Don’t fidget Avoid using words such as “Um” or “Like” Practice questions that the judges may ask you.
