4 USA in WW1 US intervention in WW1 changed the course of the war.
In 1916 the war was in stalemate and neither side knew how to break through. This was the first time that the US had fought as part of an Allied force. It took a long time for US troops to see battle. Soldiers had to be conscripted, trained and shipped to France. For the majority of 1917 the supply of US troops was a trickle. From January 1918 onwards they were arriving at a rate of 250,000 per month. Once the troop reached this level the defeat of the Central Powers was only a matter of time. General Ludendorff launched one last defiant attack but it was impossible with the fresh troops in the Allied camp. After the failure of the offensive events moved quickly, the Ottoman Empire collapsed, Austria-Hungary disintergrated and Bulgaria surrendered. On the 9th November 1918 the Kaiser abdicated. Two days later the ARMISTICE was signed.
