Constant dieting Abuse of laxatives/diuretics Abuse of diet pills Athletes may experiment with any of these methods for weight control- they may combine methods Athletes may occasionally utilize these methods 8/26/2019

6 Health Consequences of Anorexia
Malnutrition and starvation may occur Bones may become very brittle Body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure may drop Organ size may be reduced Heart problems and sudden cardiac death may occur Property of CTE Joint Venture

Social isolation & withdrawal from friends & family A lack of confidence in athletic abilities Ritualistic behavior (organizing food on their plate) An obsession with counting calories An obsession with constantly exercising, especially just before a meal An obsession with weighing self A constant overestimation of body size Patterns of leaving the table directly after eating to go to into the restroom Problems related to eating disorders (malnutrition, menstrual irregularities, or chronic fatigue) A family history of eating disorders 8/26/2019
