7 Ask Logan Logan Crowell is a junior at OHS. He’s on campus every afternoon for English III and AFM. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, he attends classes at Durham Tech, working on certification in criminal justice. Logan is considering enlisting with the Army upon graduation, hoping to work with the military police and eventually in local law enforcement. His DTCC courses count as electives toward high school graduation, and since he’s still in high school, he pays NO college tuition. “I feel like participating in college classes now is preparing me for life after high school. Earning certification in criminal justice shows the Army and future employers that I’m proactive -- I’ve got a plan.”

8 CCP Mission Career and College Promise (CCP) provides seamless dual enrollment educational opportunities for eligible NC high school students in order to accelerate completion of college certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees that lead to college transfer or provide entry-level job skills. Start earning credits toward an associates degree while you’re in high school: Associate in Arts College Transfer Pathway Associate in Science College Transfer Pathway Then transfer those credits to a 4-year college or university in the UNC system.

9 Ask Sam Sam Wade is a junior at OHS. Last semester he took a college course in English at the Hillsborough Campus of DTCC. This semester he’s taking another English course at DTCC’s main campus in Durham. Sam will get both high school and college credits for those classes. Next year he hopes to take math classes through dual enrollment. Sam and his family pay NO tuition for his DTCC courses since he’s still in high school. He plans to apply to NCSU, UNC-Pembroke, and Queens University of Charlotte next year. “My goal is to earn enough college credits to start college as a sophomore. This makes my parents happy, because it saves them money. I think colleges will see I’m a dedicated student and ready for college-level work.”
