2 What we “know” so far… Motion is measured by the formula distance divided by time. Distance divided by time = rate (speed) Example: mph (miles PER hour) Distance divided by time in a given direction is: velocity (example mph eastward) The rate at which velocity changes is acceleration. Acceleration refers to increasing speed, decreasing speed, or changing direction.
