3 Schengen Visa Scheme Allows visitors to visit a number of designated countries within Europe on a single visa. Allows you to travel as a tourist or for a short study abroad programme Allows you to enter/re enter 26 countries for up to 90 days. Maximum total stay is 90 days within 6 months period

10 Where to apply If you want to visit one Schengen country, apply to the Embassy or Consulate of that country If visiting several countries, you should apply to the Embassy of whichever country is your ‘main destination’ If visiting several countries in the Schengen area without having a main destination, you should apply to the Embassy of the country where you will first enter the Schengen area

Check visa fees and country specific requirements Download application form / complete online form Read Schengen visa/tourist visa guidelines Check information on where and how to apply All documents you provide should not be older than one month. Some embassies/centres – not older than one week

12 How to apply Requirements vary but you will always need:
Application form Passport and Visa Photos (check website for requirements) Student Statement from MyUniHub – certain countries have specific requirements meaning that the statement can take a few days to produce, so make sure you request this in advance

13 5. Proof of funds (bank statement covering 3 months)
Some embassies require minimum amount per day. Ideally you should have £60 per day. 6. Proof of reserved accommodation or invitation from friend/relative. Some countries may require your invitation to be validated or issued by local council office. Proof of travel – flights/e-tickets Travel insurance -(Travelshop in Fulton House or main Post Office in city centre) * Some embassies may need additional attendance letter ** Passport and UK visa must be valid at least three months beyond date of return to UK

14 Study abroad programme
If you are doing a short study abroad programme, you will need: A letter from the Study Abroad Office A letter from the overseas institution confirming your acceptance on a course at their institution. This letter should also confirm your accommodation arrangements.

15 Where to apply Must apply in-person
Check embassy web pages for information Must apply in-person Most embassies based in London. Cardiff VAC – Belgium, Italy and Switzerland/Liechtenstein Check visa processing time and allow sufficient time for visa application to be processed. Usually a week for most nationals. Some can be one month or more

16 Other things to consider
You must have at least 3 months of UK leave left after your travel to the Schengen area If this is your first Schengen visa application, likely to be granted single entry (rather than multiple entry) only Be careful when planning your journey and leaving/returning to the Schengen area Which visa - Tourist visa / Short stay / Family or friends visa (more requirements)
