Episode 4: Fermentation
2
Fermentation Does not produce ATP! With O2 Cellular Respiration
Anaerobic process that allows Glycolysis (breaking down of glucose) to continue making ATP when oxygen is not available for cellular respiration. Does not produce ATP! With O2 Cellular Respiration Glycolysis Without O2 Fermentation
3
B. Lactic Acid fermentation occurs in muscle cells.
glycolysis splits glucose into two three carbon molecules (2C3) the three carbon molecules enter fermentation energy converts three carbon molecule into lactic acid
4
C. Alcoholic fermentation is similar to lactic acid fermentation
glycolysis splits glucose and the products enter fermentation energy is used to split three-carbon molecule into an alcohol and carbon dioxide C3 ---> alcohol + CO2
5
D. Fermentation is used in food production.
Yogurt Cheese Bread
