3 jaguars The scientific name for a jaguar is Panthera Onca. It sleeps in the understory and they eat lots of fish and meat like deer and salmon. Their life span is 12 to 15 years in the wild and even longer in zoos. They are known for their orange coat and black spots.

4 JAGUAR HABITS Jaguars eat bigger animals than themselves like Deer. Jaguars usually hide in trees to pounce on unexpected prey bellow.

5 Interesting fact! One of the big cats, jaguar’s are solitary animals, usually hunting at night, they often drag their food up trees for safe keeping, they love to swim and roam the rainforests of Central and South America.

6 Differences to a leopard
With its spotted coat the jaguar most closely resembles the leopard which is found in Asia and Africa, however, the jaguar is larger and has a stockier build than the leopard.

7 FOOD! Jaguars are carnivores, they prey on over 80 species of animal of all sizes, such as deer ,pigs, capybara, foxes, fish, frogs and even large anaconda snakes many more.

8 Symbol of the jaguar Many ancient American cultures such as the Maya and Aztec, featured the jaguar in their mythologies, it was often regarded as a symbol of strength.
