3 Tuskegee Airmen All African-American military squad based in Tuskegee, Alabama Army program to train African-Americans to fly and maintain combat aircraft Became one of the most highly respected fighter pilot groups of WWII Helped the Double V campaign Victory at home (racism) and victory abroad (WWII)

5 Women Women helped the war efforts in many ways:
Serve abroad as nurses Held positions in the armed forces: clerical positions, radio operators, and technicians Helped out on the homefront in factories and by creating victory gardens

7 Flying Tigers Pilots brought to China to teach and help the Chinese army pilots Also brought war material to give Known for the artwork on their planes

9 Navajo Code Talkers The Army used the Navajo American Indian language to transmit and translate messages Native Americans attended basic training to learn about communication and memorization of the code that was created Some were enlisted, some were drafted Became a huge success The code was hard for other countries who intercepted the message to translate

11 Japanese Americans Post Pearl Harbor, Japanese Americans were located and put into internment camps Executive Order 9066 Why do you think the government did this? Internment camps were located in California, Oregon, and Washington states with a large Japanese American population Korematsu v.
