4.  Communication codes  Navajo have an unwritten language, no alphabet, or symbols  Used by Marine Corp in Pacific against Japanese.

5.  Many Mexicans and Puerto Ricans immigrated to the United States and were hired to work on the farms due to a labor shortage because of the war.  This program of hiring Mexicans to work on the farms was known as the “Bracero” program.

6.  “Rosie the Riveter”  Women take men’s places in factories and at home.  Nurses and non-combat military roles.  Over 6 million women enter the work force in the war industries at home.  Government forced to open over 3,000 day care facilities.
