1 Title of Program segment
Presented by Your Name

2 Introduction Introduce the subject of the presentation.
State how presentation will benefit audience. State presenter’s level of expertise on the subject. In the introduction, you should indicate the benefit of your presentation to the audience. This is known as the WIIFM or “what’s in it for me”. This will help to engage the audience from the start.

3 Topics to Be Covered Lesson 1: Name
Provide brief description, if desired. Lesson 2: Name Lesson 3: Name Let the audience know that they are going to learn these 2 or 3 points during your segment today.

4 Lesson 1: Objectives List the intended outcomes/objectives for this instructional session. Each objective should be concise, contain a verb, and have measurable results. It may be valuable to introduce the learning objectives for the segment. The audience will know what they can expect to learn during the segment and what they can walk away with once they have completed the session.

5 Lesson 1: Content Add text here. To add a picture, chart, or other content in the right column, click the appropriate icon. To add a slide, click the Slides tab, then click the New Slide gallery. Transfer the bullet points that you documented in your Content Development Outline to this slide for the first topic/sub topic (or as referenced in the Content Development Outline: “teachable chunk”.) Additional slides should be added for this topic as needed.

6 Lesson 1: Instructional Experience/Activity
Introduce activity – explain what you want the audience to do Run the activity and give ample time for audience to participate Debrief the experience with the audience to make sure they understood what they experienced Once you have covered the first topic, it’s now time to reinforce and test the audience’s knowledge of the topic. Using the ideas from your Content Development Outline, set up the learning experience here. The learning experience could be as basic as a polling question, or something more sophisticated as described in the Best Learning Experiences document.

7 Lesson 1: Wrap-up Summarize important points and ask questions to make sure audience is clear on the teaching points. Allow time for questions from audience. The audience should get “closure” on the first topic before you move on to the next topic. Summarize the first topic, and ask confirming questions like “How can you apply this information to your own situation?”

8 Lessons 2, 3, etc. Copy and paste slides from Lesson 1 and populate with relevant content. Repeat the content development process for the remaining topics in your Content Development Outline as you did for Topic 1.

9 Summary of Instructional Presentation
List important points from each lesson and ask questions to gauge learner retention. Provide resources for more information about the subject. List resources on this slide and where to find them on PLI.edu. Provide handouts with additional resource material. At the end of your segment, highlight the major “take away” points from your presentation. For closure on the whole presentation, repeat to the audience the two or three topics you said you were going to cover during the presentation introduction. Chances are there was a lot more information you would have liked to cover – be sure and mention resources where the audience can find additional information.

10 Assessment and Evaluation
Prepare a quiz or challenge to assess how much information participants learned. Survey participants to see if they found the training beneficial. If appropriate, you can prepare a quiz or challenge at the end of the segment to see how much the audience learned. As per PLI and CLE requirements, audience feedback will be collected.
