Understand what “Ace it!” Tutoring is and how the program can help students improve performance on core skills Explain the NCLB customer experience

5 NCLB- Overview Extension and amendment of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) Establishes several national mandates Minimum qualifications for teachers Deadline to achieve level deemed “proficient” States must establish measurable proficiency standards States must evaluate attainment of AYP objectives for each school

6 NCLB- Accountability If the AYP is missed for two consecutive years, must offer choice of alternative public school. If the AYP is missed for three consecutive years, must use Federal Funds for extra tutoring or “supplemental services”. Additional mandates are in place for those schools missing AYP goals beyond year four.

7 “Ace it!” Tutoring Provider of NCLB “free tutoring” services to eligible students from schools “in need of improvement.”

8 “Ace it!” Tutoring A new and innovative curriculum focused on building competency in core skills at each grade level in: Reading levels K-8 Math levels 1-8 and Algebra Curriculum is tied to State and District standards to help students learn skills that are on standardized tests.

9 “Ace it!” Tutoring Tutoring is conducted in small classes of up to 8 students. Classes are held at convenient times in easily accessible locations such as the student’s school or a community location.
