2 What would you do to improve your community if you could?
What if money were no object? What’s stopping you? Discuss these questions, write notes on flip chart

3 “We have what we need if we use what we have” -- Edgar Cahn
What do we need? what do we have? Make a basic need and asset map with these answers. Let participants self-define who is meant by ‘we’.

4 How TimeBanking can help
Connect you with other people with similar goals Enable you to earn toward your living while doing what you care about Pool resources and mobilize people Connect people and communities with needed resources

5 What is TimeBanking? Now, list (on post-it notes or in your heads) needs and assets just like we did earlier. Only now express them as offers and requests, as it is done in TimeBanking.

6 the 5 Core Values Assets Reciprocity Redefining Work Community Respect
Play TimeBank Yarn Game to illustrate matching offers and requests, engaging in reciprocal exchange, putting the core values into practice, creating informal social safety net.

7 How does it work? Give a close-to-reality rundown of how timebanking works in practice. If possible/appropriate show TimeBanking software in action.

8 1hour =1hour This is a timebank account showing the variety of exchanges, all treated/priced equally. One hour of music lessons “equals” one hour of sharing recipes “equals” one hour or errands....

11 We learn by doing Trial and error Do Do Learn Succeed Learn Fail Do
Timebanks everywhere are making dents in difficult social problems and bringing communities together in the process. As with everything new, we learn through trial and error. Do Succeed Learn Do Learn Fail Fail Learn Trial and error

12 We learn more if we share
Do Do Learn Succeed Learn Fail Do When we share what we learn in our own communities we help others to learn from our mistakes. We turn local ‘failures’ into global successes by using them to improve our practices. Do Succeed Learn Do Learn Fail Fail Learn We avoid repeating mistakes

13 We build on each other’s work
Do Better How can we create an economy that catalyzes, values and rewards abundance and collaboration? How can we pool our time and talents to create the society we want to live in? These questions get much easier when we put our heads together to answer them. !Please join us! We're sharing our efforts at Build For the World ( an international support community hosted by Dane County TimeBank. Learn Share

14 And make new friends in the process
Timebanking is working in more than 35 countries around the world.

15 We all know ways we want our world to be better.
