2. A FRESH Look at Houston Housing
The Houston real estate market is off to a slow start after concluding the best year on record.
Here is HAR’s latest First Real Estate Snapshot of Houston (FRESH) report, showing the latest trends across the greater Houston housing market as of January 31, 2018.
Our comprehensive MLS report for January 2018 will be distributed next Wednesday, February 14. As always, HAR will provide you with updated coverage in The EDGE.

3. Houston Market Movements
Across the U.S., we often see a lift in residential real estate activity at the beginning of each calendar year, as consumers steel their collective resolve to do what they deem is next toward achieving their goals. It is the housing industry's equivalent to resolving to eat better, go to the gym more, quit smoking, etc. Except in So far this year, we are not yet seeing that extra bump in activity. For the most part, the trends have been blind to calendar dynamics.
In the Houston region, for the week
ending January 28:
• New Listings decreased 8.0% to 2,275
• Pending Sales increased 15.5% to 1,837
• Closed Sales decreased 4.8% to 1,080

6. Graduate to a New Designation GRI: Real Estate Marketing
HAR presents the Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) Real Estate Marketing class over four days in late February. GRI is the most widely recognized of the national real estate designations. Topics include seller and buyer services, technology, environment and green building. Classes may be taken in any order and satisfy 10 hours of elective CE or 30 hours of SAE. Please confirm your eligibility and review the requirements necessary to earn this designation by visiting the designation holder’s site or contacting the HAR Professional Development department.
