4 High School graduation requirements
English: 4 years (40 credits) Math: 3 years (30 credits) Science: 2 years (20 credits) * 1 YR of Life Science & 1 Yr. of Physical science Health: 1 semester (5 credits) Social Studies: 3 years (30 credits) World History, US History, GOV/Econ PE: 2 years (20 Credits) Fine Art /Foreign Language: 1 year (10 credits) Electives: 70 credits Total: 225

C- 3 years of math: 4 years recommended D- 2 years of lab science (biology, chemistry, physics): 3 years recommended E- 2 years of foreign Language: 3 years recommended F- 1 year of visual/performing arts G- 1 year of a college prep elective * SAT & or ACT W/ Writing are required For a list of A-G approved courses you can visit-

6 NCAA Division I : 16 Core Courses
4 years of English 3 years of math 2 years of natural or physical science 1 extra year of English math or natural/physical science 2 years of social science 4 years of extra core courses from any category above or foreign language - Earn a 2.3 GPA in your core courses - 10 of the 16 courses must be completed by the time senior year starts - 7 of the 10 must be English, Math & Science - GPA is locked once senior year starts - Student must present a corresponding test score & core course GPA on the sliding scale

8 Division II: 16 Courses Class of 2018 and beyond
3 Years of English 2 Years of Math 2 Years of Natural or Physical Science 3 additional years of English, math, or natural /physical science 2 Years of Social Science 4 years of extra core course from any category above or Foreign Language, comparative religion or philosophy Earn a minimum 2.2 grade-point average in your core courses Earn a combined SAT Score that matches your core-course GPA on the Division II sliding scale

10 Division III Division III college-bound student-athletes are not certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center because Division III colleges and universities each set their own admissions standards. College bound student-athletes should contact their Division III college or university of interest regarding policies on admission, financial aid and athletics eligibility.

11 Students Must register for NCAA
Students must register with the NCAA eligibility center You can register by visiting Registration cost $80 Fee waiver is available for those who qualify

12 Courses must be NCAA Approved
Students need to make sure that there core classes are NCAA approved. Student can visit for a list of Valley View High School’s list of NCAA Approved Courses. Students should always double check with their counselors to make sure courses are approved.

13 NAIA: National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
NAIA is another association that college and universities maybe a part of instead of the NCAA. NAIA requirements ask you to meet only two of the following: -Minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale -SAT Score of 860 or ACT score of 18 -Graduate in top 50% of your class Visit the NAIA website for more information and the registration process ‎ Registration cost is $80 Fee waiver available for those who qualify

14 SAT & ACT Students must take either the SAT or ACT for NCAA & NAIA Eligibility For the SAT: Scores will be calculated by using the Math and critical reading For the Act: Scores will be calculated by using the English, math, Reading and Science Section Fee Waivers are available for those who qualify

15 You can let colleges know your interested in playing a sport
If your interested in playing for a school you can visit the school website and look under athletics. -Example: Usually have an interest form you can submit online. You can also submit an athletic resume.

16 Meet with your counselor
It is important that you meet with your counselor to make sure that you are on track for graduation, college, and ncaa. We won’t know you are interested in college sports unless you tell us. Before adding and dropping classes make sure you speak with your counselor about your plans.
