Evolution & THEORY How do organisms change over time in response to changes in the environment?

Populations are dynamic
Populations can change over time in either size or in the traits represented within the population

Population ecology The size of the population can change due to the change in resources or limiting factors with the environment Population ecology is best represented by growth models

Small gradual changes over thousands of years
evolution Evolution is the change in traits within a population over a long period of time (and many, many generations) Darwin used the term descent with modification to describe evolution Small gradual changes over thousands of years

These changes are a direct result from interaction with the environment and even the climate
If the Earth and the environment changes then life changes as well EX. Biogeography and Madagascar lemurs

What is a theory? A scientific explanation (advanced hypothesis) that has been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment.

What is a theory? It is valid as long as there is no evidence to dispute it. EX. Cell Theory, Theory of Continental Drift, Theory of Evolution

Inquiry cubes You will develop a theory explaining what is on the bottom on the cube. You will need to site supporting evidence for your theory from observations of other sides of the cube.
