4 What will the children be doing?
The programme is designed to compliment the geography/history curriculum. The programme meets the requirements for PE in that there are outdoor activities. The programme also encourages team work, develops thinking skills and promotes independence. Please note the itinerary is weather dependent.

7 On the morning of the residential…
Children should arrive at the school through the main entrance with their belongings at 9:00 am ready for registration. The children will leave their belongings in the hall and proceed to the classroom. Parents are welcome to wait in the hall, ready to wave them off! We will leave school at 9.30 am, earlier if possible. If your child requires medication or has a medical condition you need to make us aware of this. All medicines should be labelled with the child’s name and dosage. All medicines should be given to Mrs Jackson on the morning of departure. Children who are travelsick and need tablets should be given them prior to departure and a dosage given to Mrs Jackson for the return journey.

8 Food! A packed lunch will be required for Day1. It should be put into a plastic carrier bag with food and drinks that are in packaging/containers that can be thrown away please – do not send lunch boxes – it is just more for the children to carry on their walk back to the Centre. Please keep the lunch separate from the suitcase. Please send an additional drink and afternoon snack – the children will not require huge amounts of spare food as there is plenty at the centre. Health and Safety No snacks should be taken in luggage as this increases the likelihood that children may consider a ‘midnight feast’ and would share foods without allergy awareness

9 Sleeping Arrangements
There is a dormitory for Girls and 1 for Boys Bedding is provided ! So no need for sleeping bags etc. If your child has a bed-wetting problem please let us know. All the beds have waterproof mattress covers. If we know your child has a problem we will make sure they do not drink much in the evening, go to the toilet before bed and check their bed in the morning. The matter will be dealt with discretely. No child need be worried or excluded from the trip on the basis of having this little problem.

10 What to pack… Your child will need a rucksack containing their lunch and snacks, a spare jumper/fleece – to have with them if they get cold on the walk. If the weather is fine, your child may need sun cream and a hat. Children should arrive at school dressed ready for the walk – walking boots/trainers, track suit bottoms (not jeans), warm coat. Please pack old clothes as the children may get dirty! There are showers but as this is just an overnight stay we don’t intend to use them. Please include slippers, a book and a teddy (if appropriate) They can also bring a torch but this is not essential. Children do not need expensive clothing. They need to be warm and dry with comfortable footwear. The clothes should be items that you should not be concerned if they get ripped or dirty.
