1 Bouncing Balls Lab

2 Purpose and Equipment In this lab you will be investigating how energy is converted from one form to another. You will need the following: A tennis ball, wiffle ball, and hard yellow ball A black plastic box A meter stick with centimeters

3 Procedure READ THE STEPS WRITTEN IN THE LAB
-Instead of doing each trial “3” times, we’re going to do it “2” times. Remember, you are recording the HEIGHT of the ball AFTER it bounces

4 Gravitational Potential Energy
GPE= mass of ball X 9.8m/s2 X 1 meter Use the scale in the room to find mass of each ball.

5 Average Remember the average = (a+b+c+…)/ number of items.
In this case, you have two heights per trial, so (A+B)/2

6 Graph Go to chemislife.weebly.com Physical science Labs
“how to put a graph on google sheets” Use this to help you make your graph. I will be here to help you as always, but I expect you to be able to work independently

7 Graph continued Part of your grade will be making a graph that compares the GPE of each ball to the average bounce height. Make two graphs, one for the floor trials and one for the box trials.
