1. Why have T&L Focus Fortnights?
Teaching & Learning is our core purpose.
Consistency of practice.
Constant reminders to keep all of us focused on the same goals.
Collaboration of ideas.
To sharpen our day to day practice.
Quality of teaching is the routine not the one off lesson observation.
Consistently good with outstanding outcomes is ‘outstanding’.

2. We will share WWWs and EBIs within Faculties and across the Academy.
Focus Fortnights will be announced on Monday morning briefings and a poster to go in department offices and in the staffroom.
The information and sharing of best practice will initially go on the HWGA T&L Blog and then on Firefly.
The Focus will be in line with Top Tips so that we have a holistic approach to sharing best practice.
We will share WWWs and EBIs within Faculties and across the Academy.
Half-term schedule:
Fortnight 1 – Seating Plans to promote learning and progress.
Fortnight 2 – Wider Learning (What can you offer to enhance the learning experience?)
Fortnight 3 – Home Study to make an impact on learning and progress.

3. Home Study:
Focus on CHOICE of activities
Set different types of Home Study – Doddle, Research, Presentations, Reading, Questions, Consolidation activities, Creative.
The VLE (Firefly) will be how we set, self-mark and track home study in the future. For now it must be set in the planner.
Start THINKING about how you can link home study to the Magenta Principles of Learning. This is an area we will be exploring in the future.
For example: Read through the hand out on ‘Life as a medieval peasant’ and choose to complete one of the following:
1: SEARCH for it – Find 2-3 pieces of evidence from different sources and write them in your own words as quotes.
2: REDUCE it – Write 10 bullet point fact and 5 questions about the hand out.
3. ENLARGE it – Write a day in the life of a medieval peasant.
