1 Healthier Fylde Coast (Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre) ICP 100 System Leaders
Overview Purpose/ Why they did the work Delivery Learning Outcomes Cost Blackpool,Fylde and Wyre ICP (also known as Healthier Fylde Coast) aims to integrate health and social care, and deliver better outcomes for their residents. Delivering better outcomes means they might have to work in a different way and so this means spending time with each other, building relationships and acknowledging that contributions to outcomes are made by many partners. It’s also important to recognise and respect different professions, and the role they have to play in providing integrated care as well as removing organisational barriers, particularly the behavioural factors associated with ‘organisational tribalism’. That is why they designed this Healthier Fylde Coast 100 Systems Leaders Programme. 100 leaders from across the Fylde Coast come together to strengthen collaborative working – these people are the ‘doers’ – project leads; workstream leads; steering group members etc. The leaders all play a significant role in the planning and implementation of transformational change across the Fylde Coast. The aim is to develop a model of integrated and coordinated health and social care so that care is delivered seamlessly. Having the ‘right’ kind of leadership to implement transformational change is crucial. To engage stakeholders during this period of transition leaders are needed at all levels who can create and communicate the vision, widen the circle of involvement, connect people to each other, create communities for action whilst delivering results and creating a high performance culture. The programme consists of 7.5 days scheduled between September 2018 – June 2019. First systems leaders and integrators are invited to attend a strengths based development centre where they will assess themselves against a set of system leadership behaviours which have recently been developed by the North West Leadership Academy. At the end of the development centre, leaders and integrators are provided with a development plan. Systems leaders and integrators then attend a four day programme (one day per month) to develop their thinking Through participation in the development centres, learning modules, applied learning sets and community project, as well as accessing coaching and mentoring opportunities, leaders will develop their strategic leadership knowledge and skills whilst building on your strengths as a leader through a process of peer support, self-awareness and reflective learning. Considering roll out of 100 system leaders programme across the ICS To strengthen collaborative working amongst the leaders working within the Fylde Coast health and care system and help teams from different organisations work in a more integrated way whilst maintaining high levels of engagement. Leaders are able to work across the system effectively, connect people to each other and create communities for action. The ICP invests in people so they feel supported in implementing the transformational change necessary to deliver better health and social care outcomes. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with others, build new relationships and for people to learn together across the system. The programme will enable participants to: - Develop a common language and collaborative working mindset Identify new ways of working and collaborating with health, social care and third sector organisations Maintain high levels of resilience needed to implement change and work across organisational boundaries Use a wide range of quality improvement tools and techniques to help transform services within the system Operate successfully from a place based system of care Deal with organisational tribalism effectively Have conversations with people that you might not have spoken to before Increase the pace and scale of transformation Put their systems leadership skills into practice by supporting a community based project £43.5k for 100 people
