8 systems being designed and the remaining significantly advanced.
The XTOD development plan will conclude with operations commencing in March ‘09 FEE NEH Tunnel FEH FY06 Final Design Procurement - Prep Preliminary Design FY07 Procurement Build/Test/Install FY08 Commission FY06 is characterized as the “Design and Thinking” year with the majority of systems being designed and the remaining significantly advanced.

9 XTOD milestones were chosen to lower risks and meet the required commissioning sequence
Higher risk/complexity systems typically have early milestones to ensure adequate development time

10 An aggressive gas attenuator schedule including a prototype sequence is the XTOD critical path
Prototype efforts are intended to minimize development risks and ensure an on time delivery of a system meeting the required performance requirements

11 XTOD is approximately 24% complete and is tracking schedule and performance plans
FY07 is the largest funding year at $12M and includes almost all XTOD procurements

12 Several system documents and reviews have been defined as key schedule milestones

13 XTOD work flow will follow ISMS practices for each WBS element
WBS Dictionary LCLS Physics Requirements ICDs IWS (Integrated Work Sheet) is LLNL wide e-form for documenting ISMS for each work package: Scope Hazards Controls Roles (RI…) Responsibilities Training Signoff Hardware Installation Operations Servicing ERDs Designs Eng. Safety Notes Certified Parts Lists

14 Integrated Safety Worksheets will be Developed for Each Task

15 Summary XTOD schedule reflects an achievable plan Key staff has been assembled to meet the development plan XTOD is tracking the plan The critical path item is being actively scrutinized to ensure success Work flow follows the principle of ISM
