Eventually invaded France and took over Blitzkrieg (Lightening War) with Britain Commercial Boats with civilian captains and crews (”Small Boats”) saved thousands of British and France soldiers stranded on the beach(es) of Dunkirk. Eastern Europe Nazi-Soviet Pact: Soviets would not stop German Imperialism and Germans would not stop Soviet Imperialism Germany broke Nazi-Soviet Pact and invaded Soviets… Germany out for Soviet Resources Germany lost battle of Stalingrad and continued to retreat into German territory North Africa British and American Troops attempted to stop Italian and German Forces (including Desert Fox Rommel) … Rommel lost eventually… 1942 Rommel lost at El Alemien General Patton involved in the war efforts in Africa first… leading up to the invasion of Italy Control over N. Africa freed Allies to help make the next move (north through Sicily and into Italy) Italy Italy was the first “European” country to involve American forces Italy was the “in” that Allied troops needed to create a southern front… eventually surrounding German Troops in the European Theater Mussolini was shot and killed… created new gov’t Allied Troops threatened to take Rome… Italy’s new gov’t surrendered.
