Novel Task 1 Date: Objective Practise engaging with the text so as to make this an active reading, as opposed to a passive one. Practise personal writing – which is healthy to do. Warm-up Choose a character from the book you are reading and write down one fact about him/her/it you would like to share. “There’s a kid who has a stutter after his brother disappeared” (IT)

2 A letter to a fictional character.
A minimum of four clear paragraphs. (large ones) Two things you would ask the character if they were alive. (What’s the question, why that, show detail about the story) Two things you would tell the character about yourself. (Can again show knowledge of the character by referencing how he might react to your issues).

3 Cooldown We call people in stories ‘characters’ like they’re objects to be examined. If you were a character, how might you be portrayed? How might a student describe you in their report?
